Funeral Directors: 1 Professional Practices CEU Transfer Care Specialists: 1 CEU A transfer care specialist (TCS) must complete three (3) hours of continuing education annually on content described in clauses (1) to (3) below and submit evidence of completion with the individual's registration renewal. (1) ethical care and transportation procedures for a deceased person; (2) health and safety concerns to the public and the individual performing the transfer of the deceased person, and the use of universal precautions and other reasonable precautions to minimize the risk for transmitting communicable diseases; and (3) all relevant state and federal laws and regulations related to the transfer and transportation of deceased persons. In this session, Angela will share techniques and ideas to bring ceremony to the bedside by including family and facility staff in the initial transfer. Facilitating these moments of ceremony helps families create healing memories, honors the care that health care staff provide, and creates an unforgettable first impression of your service and guidance. About Our Speaker:
Angela Woosley is a mortician, educator, end-of-life doula, and certified celebrant. After teaching in the Program of Mortuary Science at the University of MN for ten years, Angela founded Inspired Journeys, and works to invite and include everyone into the experience of caring for their own dead in order to demystify funeral care, break down barriers of equity and access to the dead, and build a bridge between the worlds of medical care and funeral care. In addition to her work with Inspired Journeys, Angela served a three-year term on the board of directors for the National Home Funeral Alliance, serving as board president for part of her term. She was also part of the grassroots action group that helped legalize natural organic reduction (NOR, also known as human composting) in the state of Minnesota. Angela is actively involved with the MN Death Collaborative and connected with the MN Threshold Network. In addition, she is working with the Land Conservation Natural Burial Project, working to make conservation natural burial a reality in MN.
