We're ready to welcome you to MFDA's 129th Annual Convention on May 20-May 22 in Rochester. Important Convention details are below, please review before Convention so you can maximize your experience.


Parking for Attendees Not Staying at a Hotel
Various parking options are available to convention attendees in downtown Rochester.
During the month of May, the Civic Center Ramp located at 1st Ave SE will be closed. The City of Rochester is installing a new sanitary sewer in this area and 1st Avenue SE in front of the ramp is closed to all traffic. Please see map below for available parking options. The skyway system to Mayo Civic Center will remain open during construction. Visit here for more parking info including parking rates. 

Parking for Attendees Staying at Hotels
A discounted parking rate will be offered to hotel guests at $8/day. Please see your hotel’s website or call your hotel if you have a question about parking.


Still Need a Hotel Room for Convention?
Our room block deadline with our convention hotel partners was on Sunday, April 28. Current availability and rates at hotels near the Mayo Civic Center can be requested by using their contact info available here.


Monday MFDA Educational Lab Sessions
If you’ve purchased tickets to attend the Educational Lab Sessions on Monday, May 20 at the Mayo Anatomy Lab, below is the address of the Lab (please note the Lab is not located at the Mayo Civic Center where Convention activities will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday):

Use the main entrance to the building (there is only one) and take elevator to the 9th floor.  There will be seating in the lab and the adjacent classroom.  Classroom will live stream the lab and questions can be asked of the speakers in real-time. If you have issues finding the building, please call Miki at 651-235-3700.  If you are driving in just for the Lab Sessions, the closest parking ramp is the adjacent 3rd Street Ramp.

Monday MFDA Welcome Pub Party
Join us Monday, May 20 from 7:00-11:00pm for our Welcome Pub Party to kick off MFDA’s Convention at Dooley’s Pub (255 1st Ave SW, Rochester - just a couple of blocks from our Convention hotels).  Sponsored by Wieser Vault, MAS Communications, and Willmar Precast Company.
Join us for live music by the band Pegasus with front woman and funeral director Kelly Kelly!  Appetizers and drink tickets will be available. All Convention attendees and exhibitors are invited to this free event!


Tuesday and Wednesday Convention Activities will be at Mayo Civic Center
Mayo Civic Center is at 30 Civic Center Drive SE, Rochester, MN. Registration will open in the Ballroom Lobby South on the 2nd floor at 7:00am on Tuesday and 8:00am on Wednesday.  Look for signs to guide you to registration!


Don't Miss the Exhibit Hall
Join us in the Exhibit Hall in Mayo Civic Center to connect with funeral industry vendors and sponsors! During Tuesday's hours we will have appetizers, drink tickets, yard games, and prizes! During Wednesday's hours we will have breakfast, a build your own Bloody (and Virgin) Mary bar, more prizes, and a grand prize of $500 cash (must be present to win)! Convention Mobile App & Wireless Internet

We're excited to offer our MFDA Convention App again this year.  If you haven't done so, please download the app prior to arrival onsite - this app will be your Convention program with everything you need! 

If you are unable to use the app to track your CEUs, please alert the Convention staff at the registration desk. Instructions on how to track your CEUs will be given throughout Convention.  At the end of Convention your CEU Certificate will immediately be available to send to your email.

PLEASE NOTE: Each attendee using the app must use their own individual work or personal email to track their CEUs. Using a shared email for multiple attendees will not work. Please email Miki Tufto at with your email address to use to log-in.

Also, in the app you will get up-to-the-minute information such as the latest agenda, create your own My Schedule, speaker information, feedback opportunities, maps, exhibitor and sponsor details, an attendee list and more!

Below are instructions for attendees who either have the app installed on their phone from last year or need to download it for the first time:

I used the app at Convention last year and still have it on my phone, now what?

  • We will be using the same app called MFDA Events, just make sure the app is updated (Go into Apple Store or Google Play Store and view your installed apps and make sure MFDA Events is updated).
  • After you open the app and log-in with your email and password from last year (Forgot your password? Request a password reset or use "mfda2019"), select the Upcoming MFDA's 129th Annual Convention under the list of events.

Downloading the App
To get the MFDA Convention mobile app:

  1. iPhone and iPad users-search "MFDA Events" on the Apple App Store or visit here to download
  2. Android users-search "MFDA Events" on the Google Play Store or visit here to download
  3. Blackberry, Windows, laptop users-go to this address (omit www):

** For Apple iPhone, iPad, and iPod users - if you have your device set to require your Apple ID when downloading apps, please be sure you are familiar with your Apple ID. 

Logging into the App

The app is password protected.  Once you have accessed the app, you will need to log-in by entering the email address you used to register for Convention (or the one you've emailed to and "mfda2019" as the case sensitive password.


Complimentary public Wi-Fi will be available throughout Mayo Civic Center.

If you have any special requests or dietary needs that you would like accommodated (and haven't notified MFDA already), please let Miki know ASAP.


Convention attire is business casual.

The Convention will be photographed for publicity. Please note that as a registrant of this Convention, you hereby give MFDA permission to publish photographs taken during the Convention.
