WHAT'S NEW FOR 2008:

• Online registration is available again for those attending Convention and paying by credit card. By registering online, it will expedite the registration process at the MFDA office and MFDA members, guests, and students will receive a $20 discount in registration fees!

• The Depot is offering a $139 Convention room rate (plus tax and parking) for attendees to stay during Convention. Reserve you room at the Depot's hotel space, the Renaissance Hotel by Marriott. Call 612-375-1700 and ask for the Minnesota Funeral Directors Convention room rate. Hurry, this special Convention rate will only be available until April 20! Even if there is a possibilty that you will attend Convention, please reserve your hotel room as the hotel has sold out in the past years!
  
  
• Convention will return to the unique convention facility at The Depot! Located in downtown Minneapolis, The Depot www.thedepotminneapolis.com will host all convention events including the exhibit hall.
  
  
• The Exhibit Hall will be held in the unique skating rink space at The Depot. A luncheon will be served from 12:30-2:00 pm followed by Exhibit Hall hours from 2-6 pm. An Opening Night Party from 6-9 pm sponsored by Federated Insurance, will continue on into the night with live music and entertainment.
  
  
• Don't miss the Young at Heart Party on Wednesday evening from 6:00-9:30 pm! No matter what your age is, you can make the night young at the Heart Rock Cafe.

  Attend the Celebration of Life event (previously the Prayer Breakfast and Service of Remembrance) on Wednesday morning from 7:30-9:00 am. Enjoy a morning of music, fellowship, and inspiration, and also honor fellow funeral directors who have died during the past year. A continental breakfast will be served during this event.

• 2008 speakers include:

  • "Generational Hurdles in Funeral Service" and " Where's All the Good Help?" by Jackie Taylor;

  • NFDA At-Large Representative Randall Earl, CFSP, will present an NFDA Update;

  • "Embalming/Restorative Arts" by Tim Collison, sponsored in part by Gregg Bright of The Dodge Co.;
    
    
  • "Preneed Insurance Seminar " by Ray Haugland;
    
    
  • "Preneed Insurance Topics " by Funeral Directors Life Insurance Company;
    
    
  • OSHA Training (1 CEU), will be available each day of Convention by MFDA Representative.

• Earn up to 13.5 hours of Continuing Education Credit at Convention this year. MFDA has also applied for funeral director continuing education credit in Wisconsin and Iowa (approval pending). We will approve your CEU forms following each presentation.
